How Have You Overcome Barriers In the Startup World?
It's not a shock to anyone, whether you're in the startup world
or not, to say that it's difficult to launch a successful business.
It's an absolute grind to develop an idea you believe in, and then to
try to sell that idea to potential investors.
It becomes an
even steeper hill to climb for many minorities who are attempting to
achieve the dream of launching a successful startup, according to a Mashable Spotlight piece Anita Li wrote on the topic.
In her story about the barriers minority entrepreneurs face, Li writes, "Minority-owned
firms are less likely than non-minority-owned firms to receive loans,
recent data shows. And the founders are less likely to apply for loans
due to fears of rejection...Minority-owned firms (42%) were also three times more likely than non-minority-owned firms (16%) to be denied loans."
